The life story of the founder of the Order of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary highlights the humility, love, and self-sacrifice of Sister María Soledad, who dedicated her life to God and to serving the sick.

Two storylines intertwine. The first takes place in the present day, when a young Sister Inés from the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Virgin Mary visits the grumpy and ailing father of lawyer Olga. He harbors a strong aversion to Christianity and the Church.

Through Sister Inés’s care, perseverance, love, and her reading of the biography of Saint María Soledad Torres Acosta—the founder of the Congregation of the Servants of the Virgin Mary—this man undergoes a profound transformation in the twilight of his life.

The second act unfolds in tandem with Sister Inés’s reading of María Soledad’s biography. It depicts the difficult beginnings and gradual successes that Sister María Soledad experienced in both her personal and religious life.

María Soledad’s charisma was linked above all to her sense of the need to help the sick and the abandoned. As superior, she led and expanded the order to several countries around the world.

Together with her sisters, she had to face revolution, epidemics, and religious persecution. Her work paved the way for the first degree-granting nursing program in Spain.
