One of the best true cinematic stories about forgiveness. A film full of true thoughts that can help a person properly understand even a great loss.
The Amish community lives their peaceful life in the beautiful surroundings of Nickel Mines in Pennsylvania, USA. Little do they know that a man in their neighborhood is plotting revenge on God for allowing the death of his little girl.
He chooses the children at the local Amish school as his victims. He breaks into the school and kills several children and himself. Other children end up in the hospital with serious injuries.
This act of terrorism is a serious blow to the Amish community. Gradually they try to deal with the bloodshed in their own way. They decide to forgive.
As a first gesture of their forgiveness, they go to visit the wife of the man who killed their children to offer her help if she needs anything.
Not everyone among the Amish, however, shares the same perspective on this tragedy. Ida, the mother of one of the murdered girls, cannot accept that she has to forgive such a great crime. Doubts grow in her about God’s goodness and love. Her dead daughter, however, has one more message prepared for her.
