Imperium: Saint Peter
A very nice treatment of the greatest events in the life of St. Peter. The film also touches largely on the fate of St. Paul and some of the other disciples of Jesus, as well as Jesus himself.
The two-part biblical film about Simon Peter mainly depicts the events following Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.
After the death of Jesus, the film shows the despair of the apostles, and later the persecution of the Christians in Jerusalem, especially by Saul, or the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles.
There is also space for the clarification of the attitude towards the admission of Gentiles into the Church, the conversion of Paul and the dispersion of the apostles into the world, and the beginning of Paul’s ministry in Rome.
The end of the first volume is devoted to the arrival of the Apostle Peter in Rome.
In the second part, the film shows the meeting of Peter and Paul in Rome, the preaching, capture and execution of Paul, and the fate of several other Christians and pagans in Rome.
The plot also focuses on Peter’s work among the Christians in Rome and culminates in the burning of Rome by Nero, with the subsequent blame being placed on the Christians. These events culminate in the capture and killing of the apostle Peter.
