Mother Teresa of Calcutta
The two-part film Mother Teresa – The Pen in God’s Hand captures the life of Saint Mother Teresa in great detail. The humility, love and perseverance with which she abounded were crowned by her wisdom, which can be found in almost every one of her sayings. This trait of hers is also captured in this film treatment.
Mother Teresa reaches India. She first works as a religious sister in the local education system.
When she sees the immense poverty on the streets and the lack of concern for the suffering, it does not leave her indifferent. She founds her own convent, the Missionaries of Charity, which is dedicated to the poorest of the poor. They dedicate themselves to the care of street children and to the care of the hungry and sick.
Her work begins to grow and becomes known all over the world.
What was particularly inspiring about Mother Teresa was her willingness and dedication to help the poorest and most abandoned, who are despised by the whole of society. Also her courage and determination to fight for a good cause with God’s help, even though circumstances were largely unfavourable to her work.
