The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler
The true story of a brave and kind woman who saved 2,500 Jewish children from death in concentration camps. The film shows that, in addition to Oskar Schindler, John Rabe, Nicholas Winton, and Walter Suskind, there was another person who brought light into the darkness of war.
Irena Sendler is a social worker in Warsaw. During World War II, Warsaw’s Jews are placed in a ghetto, where Irena also has access. With her colleagues and the help of other brave people, she decides to help save Jewish children from deportation to concentration camps.
For a long time, everything goes relatively smoothly. But then a turning point comes, and Irena, along with many others, is arrested and interrogated. She is forced to reveal her accomplices. When she refuses to name anyone, they decide to extract information from her through torture. She must endure cruel Nazi atrocities, from having her feet beaten to watching her friends being shot right before her eyes.
The terrible suffering has the potential to break Irena, but that would also mean losing the man of her heart.
