A moving and masterfully crafted story from Afghanistan about the difficult childhood of many local boys. A whirlwind of emotions that forces us to reflect and appreciate all that is good. Everything that, sadly, children in countries as severely tested as Afghanistan cannot experience. The film is an adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s bestseller.
Hassan and Amir are friends who spend their time together playing various games, their favorite being flying kites. Hassan’s father works as a servant for Amir’s father.
Hassan always treats Amir like a loyal friend who would never betray him. Amir, on the other hand, is quite conceited and one day reveals himself to be a complete cowardly traitor. He tries to stifle his remorse by doing everything he can to get Amir’s father to send Hassan and his father away.
Eventually, Hassan and his father leave. Soon after, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan begins. Amir’s father takes his son and they flee to Pakistan. From there, they escape to the United States.
Years later, Amir is a writer who has just published his first book. At that time, an old friend of his father’s contacts him from Pakistan.
Upon arriving at his apartment, he learns a long-hidden family secret. He also finds out that his childhood friend Hassan is dead, but he has a son. Amir gets a chance to redeem himself for his past failures. But the price may be too high.
