It all started with forging big rings. Three were given to the elves – the immortal, the wisest and the most magnificent, 7 rings were given to the lords of the dwarves – the great miners and craftsmen from the halls beneath the mountains, and nine were given to the breed of humans who crave power the most of all.
In the rings was bound the power and will to conquer of each race. All, however, were deceived. Another ring was forged in the land of Mordor in the fires of Mount Doom, where Sauron secretly forged a ruling ring to control all others. Into this ring he put his cruelty, his malice, and his will to control all living things.
One by one, the free realms fell under the power of the ring. But an allied army of men and elves stood against Mordor. But the power of the Ring could not be destroyed. At the moment when all hope was extinguished, the king’s son Isildur seized the sword and defeated the enemy Sauron by cutting the ring and his finger from his hand.
The ring was given to Isildur. He was given a unique opportunity to destroy evil once and for all. But he allowed himself to be possessed by the ring of power. The ring, however, betrayed Isildur and left him for dead. The Ring was lost, for two and a half thousand years until it found a new owner – Gollum.
The Ring brought Gollum an unnaturally long life, for 500 years it poisoned his mind, waiting in the darkness of Gollum’s cave. Darkness once again crept into the forests of the world, and the Ring perceived that its time had come. He left Gollum, but Bilbo Baggins of the Hobbit found him.
After a while, Bilbo senses that it’s time to retreat to a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the Hobbit. That’s when Gandalf, the wizard who has been sent to protect Middle-earth from the growing power of Sauron, visits the Shire.
In Rivendell, Frodo and his friend Sam are chosen to destroy the Ring by throwing it into Mount Doom, along with other hobbits Pippin and Smiley, the dwarf Gimli, the elf Legolas, the human representatives Aragorn and Boromir, and eventually Gandalf joins the company.
They must overcome many pitfalls and dangers on their journey to Mordor. The Fellowship fights against Sauron’s goblins, but also against the army of the sorcerer Saruman, who has allied himself with Sauron in the hope of gaining power in this way.
The Fellowship disintegrates, Boromir dies in battle but the goal they are all working towards is still in front of each of them.
Frodo has a difficult time when he must fight within himself not to succumb to the power of the Ring that wants to enslave him. Great battles are taking place between all the peoples of Middle-earth. Against Sauron, the Horned Warriors of Rohan on horseback, the Knights of Gondor, the Ents, who are the lords of the forests, the excellent Elven archers and the representatives of the Dwarves and Hobbits are fighting.
However, victory does not look promising and defeat by Sauron seems inevitable.
