The Perfect Stranger
The film The Perfect Stranger is a modern retelling of the story of a woman’s encounter with Jesus Christ. The film was followed by other productions such as Another Perfect Stranger (2007), Nikki and the Perfect Stranger (2013) and the spin-off film The Perfect Gift (2009).
Nikki is a lawyer who is having problems in her marriage. She decides to invite her husband to a romantic dinner at a local restaurant, but he has already planned to go to a baseball game.
Disappointed, Nikki goes to work and sees an invitation to dinner at the same restaurant she had planned to go to with her husband. It occurs to her that this may be a romantic gesture on her husband’s part.
Excited, she goes to the restaurant, but sees a mysterious man who claims to be Jesus Christ. She thinks the man is crazy and tries to leave, but he convinces her to stay.
During dinner, they discuss various topics, from the issue of true religion to the existence of eternal life. During a dinner full of arguments, Nikki learns things she never knew about life, heaven, hell, other religions, the universe, and even herself.
By the end of the dinner, she notices large nail scars on the man’s wrists, and her life is changed forever.
