Gospa
A film showing the brutality of the communist regime and the absurdities resulting from rigged trials. The story of a group of children claiming that the Virgin Mary appears to them, which seems like complete madness in the context of the communist terror then reigning, unless the apparitions that continue to this day are real.
Yugoslavia, 1981. Our Lady begins to appear to a group of children as the Queen of Peace. Large numbers of pilgrims begin to arrive in Medjugorje, located in the Croatian part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where these apparitions are taking place.
The leaders of the Catholic Church are very reserved about the apparitions. It is only with time that the local priests begin to trust the children in the matter of the apparitions. Consequently, they become a thorn in the side of the local communist leaders.
Initially, the communists, with the help of police and military force, try to prevent people from gathering in Medjugorje. Later, they proceed to the trial of the local parish administrator, Joz Zovko, who is tortured and imprisoned. A significant part of the film is devoted to the trial of priest Zovko.
