If you enjoy films like *Quo Vadis* or *Ben-Hur*, then you’ll also enjoy this historical film featuring a fictional character. Although the story includes several non-biblical characters and events, it strives to remain faithful to the Bible. The story is told from the perspective of a non-believing Roman soldier.

Clavius is an influential Roman commander. Together with his aide Lucidus, they are tasked by Pontius Pilate with investigating rumors of the resurrection of the Jewish Messiah—Jesus Christ—and finding his missing body. 

During the investigation, Clavius comes into contact with Jesus’ disciples and eventually meets Jesus himself within their circle. 

He decides to follow Jesus and to understand as best he can how it is possible that this executed Hebrew is alive. He also wants to figure out how it is possible that Jesus can be seen with a relatively intact body after being tortured and crucified. 

The impression left by the film may be somewhat marred by the hippie-like appearance and facial expressions of Jesus, as well as those of some of the apostles.
