Saint Joan of Arc was a young country girl. At first, she was seen as a crazy girl pretending to be the mythical Maid of Orléans. However, God had truly chosen her to intervene in the history of France and the world through her.

Joan of Arc lived during a turbulent period in French history, when a significant portion of French territory was occupied by England.

Even as a young girl, Joan had visions of heavenly beings. Acting on their calls, she rose to prominence and eventually appeared before the king. After winning over the demoralized army, she rallied them to extraordinary feats and reclaimed several strategically important lost territories for France.

Behind the scenes, however, a web of intrigue was being woven against her. Although she herself did not succeed in liberating all of France, she achieved key victories. Thanks to this, her prophecy—that the remaining occupied French territories would be liberated within seven years—was fulfilled after her death.

This film adaptation of Joan of Arc’s biography is the highest-rated cinematic portrayal of her life. The film was shot by Canadian filmmakers primarily on location in the Czech Republic.
