This historical film by Hollywood director Cecil B. DeMille is based on the second book of the Old Testament—Exodus.

The story begins when the Egyptian queen Bithiah secretly takes in a small child floating down the river in a basket and raises him as her own. He is then raised in luxury and receives an education.

It is not until adulthood that Moses realizes he is different—that by blood he does not belong to the Egyptians. His mission becomes to restore freedom to the Jewish people. With the help of the slaves, he rebels against his stepbrother, the Pharaoh, and the priests who firmly control Egypt.

God accompanies the Jewish people on their journey, proving His presence through miracles and the deliverance of His people from Egyptian captivity.
