Faustina: The Apostle of Divine Mercy
A film inspired by the diary of a nun, Sister St. Maria Faustina Kowalska. The main idea of the film is God’s mercy, which is offered freely to all – we only need to sincerely desire to accept it. The film shows Faustina’s positive attitude towards life, which stems from her warm relationship with God.
The story is narrated by Sister Felix of the Congregation of Divine Mercy, who lived close to Sister Faustina for years before Faustina had her apparitions. She recalls that she wronged and even hurt Sister Faustina very much and today she regrets it very much. Only now does she realise that being with Sister Faustina was a gift to her.
One evening Sister Victorine, who had been dead for a year, appeared to Faustina. She wanted Faustina to pray for her, for the deliverance of her soul from purgatory.
Later, Sister Faustina begins to have visions in which she meets and talks with Jesus. He asks her to paint a picture. When she tells her fellow sisters about her experiences, they consider her sick and she meets with great incomprehension. Even her confessor does not believe her; he tells her to paint Jesus in her heart.
Faustina is transferred to a house in Vilnius and her sister Felix is sent with her. Here Faustina finds a good confessor who listens to her and, despite her many doubts, helps her to paint the picture. However, Faustina is disappointed with the painting because it does not reflect the true beauty of the Jesus she sees in the apparitions.
Faustina undergoes a psychiatric examination, but nothing pathological is found. She begins to have more serious medical
