A film depicting the major turning points in the life of Bishop Polycarp. A simple story with a profound message that captures the essence of Matthew 16:25: “Anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Anna, a young slave girl, is rescued and adopted by Christians in Smyrna in the 2nd century. In the community where she lives, she befriends Bishop Polycarp. From Polycarp and the other Christians, Anna learns to live a life of freedom and truth—even as a new wave of persecution against Christians begins. The Roman proconsul demands that all citizens bow down to the emperor as a sign of their loyalty to Rome.

Polycarp and the Christians must find the courage to stand up for their faith in the face of the growing threat of persecution. Anna is forced to come to terms with the truth and choose for whom she is willing to live—and die.
