The 2018 film Remi, Nobody’s Boy (Rémi sans famille), is a family adventure film that tells the story of ten-year-old Rémi, who was found as a baby near a church and subsequently raised by an adoptive family. After some time, he finds himself traveling through France with a wandering musician named Vitalis, his dog, and a monkey, where he learns to read, write, and develop his singing talent.

Rémi is taken in by a kind woman from the countryside. However, as Rémi’s adoptive family faces increasingly severe financial difficulties, his stepfather decides to send the boy to an orphanage.

On the way, they meet Mr. Vitalis, a wandering musician, who buys Rémi from his stepfather. Together with Vitalis’s faithful dog and monkey, he sets off on a journey through France. During their travels, Rémi learns to read and write, discovers his talent for singing, and experiences both the joys and sorrows of a wandering life, human cruelty, and the power of friendship and love.

Thanks to an artifact he has kept since early childhood, Rémi finally learns where he comes from. Vitalis sets out with Rémi on a journey to find the boy’s biological family, but Rémi’s uncle’s greed stands in the way of uncovering the truth about his true origins.

The film is an adaptation of Hector Malot’s famous novel and shows how, despite the hardships, Rémi retains his kind heart and honesty. The film is a family story full of adventure and emotion.
