The Bucket List
They have barely a year to live and a lot of unfulfilled wishes. A bit wacky, a bit idealistic, but still a nice film about the meaning of life.
Edward Cole, a nervous and angry millionaire, and Carter Chambers, a well-read car mechanic, meet in the same hospital room with the same diagnosis – cancer. With only a few months to live, together they make a list of things they want to accomplish before they die.
Edward is the kind of man who wants to enjoy himself at all costs, seeking pleasures, but unfortunately he can only ever settle for short-term gratification. Carter resolves to go on a journey with Edward, perhaps precisely because she wants to help him find true joy in life.
Along with visiting various exotic places around the world, they talk about life and get to know each other. They visit the Great Wall of China, the Himalayas, the Pyramids of Giza, Europe or try skydiving.
Family-oriented Carter is a devout Christian who loves his wife and children. In contrast, Edward is a womanizer. Edward also tries to set up a prostitute for Carter, but he discreetly turns her down.
Eventually they return to America, where Carter dies after a short time. However, he has one wish, which Edward is the one to grant him.
