Facing the Giants
A film about how God wants to work miracles in everyone’s life, as long as they give God the space to do it, as long as they put God first in their lives, and as long as they reject the sin that prevents it all.
Grant Taylor coaches the football team at a Christian high school. The team he leads is not very successful, and at the beginning of the new season he suffers yet another loss of a key player, Darren.
He has a nice marriage with his wife, but otherwise his life is full of setbacks. These don’t bypass his coaching career and the school administration and his parents begin to consider replacing Grant Taylor with another coach.
Grant begins to see his whole life as one big disaster. He begins to wonder: “What is God doing?”, “Why is this so hard?” He begins to search the Scriptures for answers. After a while, he begins to ask God for help, and in spite of everything, he praises and glorifies Him. Setbacks bring Grant closer to God.
Grant changes his life and tries to encourage those around him to do the same. He doesn’t want winning at football to be the main goal of his charges, it’s not enough. Everything will be forgotten someday anyway. They are not here to get glory, make money and die. He proposes a new team philosophy – football as a tool with which to worship God. He wants them to glorify him when they win, he wants them to glorify him when they lose.
Because of Grant’s new thinking, several of Grant’s charges are also beginning to change their lives and relationships for the better.
