The film The Voice of Hind Rajab is a Tunisian-French docudrama that reconstructs a real-life event that took place on January 29, 2024, in Gaza, when six-year-old Hind Rajab was trapped in a car riddled with bullets following an attack by the Israeli army. The film is an indictment of war and international inaction.

The film begins by depicting an Israeli military operation in Gaza, which quickly turns into a tragedy when the family car in which Hind is traveling with her relatives comes under fire.

Hind survives the attack by hiding under the car seat, while everyone else in the car is killed. The injured and terrified little girl calls the Palestinian Red Crescent emergency hotline. The operators try to calm her down while immediately beginning to arrange for her rescue.

However, the rescue is complicated by bureaucracy and security restrictions: the operators must contact the Red Cross, which must coordinate the operation with the Israeli army, find and approve a safe route, and only then will the paramedics get the “green light” to set out.

While waiting, Hind describes what she sees and hears around her—a riddled car, dead bodies, and tanks in sight. The film uses authentic audio recordings from shelled Gaza, heightening the sense of immediacy and helplessness.
