You probably won’t find another movie that explains the meaning and importance of forgiveness as well as this one. It’s a movie about how rocky the path to forgiveness can be, especially in the most serious cases, when someone hurts you or even your loved one.

Sean Weathers is an arrogant, successful dirt track racer. He’s at the peak of his career—he has fans, money, and confidence.

A young, talented racer named Ray Reed enters the scene and begins to pose a serious threat to him. Ray is just reconnecting with his long-estranged father, Jack Reed, whom he hasn’t seen in years. Jack comes to the race to support his son.

During the final lap of the race, Ray attempts to pass Sean. In a tense moment, Sean’s car crashes into Ray’s, causing Ray’s vehicle to roll over several times. Ray dies as a result of the accident. Sean survives but is seriously injured, and his career is in jeopardy.

After the accident, Sean sinks into depression, losing control of his life and his ability to care for his young daughter, Gracie. Jack is devastated by the loss of his son, with whom he had just begun to reconnect. He feels anger, pain, and a desire for revenge.
