A very beautiful, modern retelling of the story of Abraham and his relationship with God. Many believe that Jesus was crucified at the very spot where Abraham intended to sacrifice his son Isaac, or near that spot. It was a parallel meant to show how painful it was for God to give up His Son and allow Him to be crucified for the sake of humanity and its sins.

The film emphasizes the parallels between Abraham’s distrust, disobedience, and sinfulness and those of the rest of humanity. It highlights the parallels between Abraham’s sin—for which God demanded the penalty of death—and the sins of humanity.

The film beautifully illustrates how Abraham’s son Isaac was a foreshadowing of the rest of us, and how the lamb that Abraham ultimately sacrificed was a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ.

Following a call from the Lord, Abraham’s faith is put to the test during a three-day journey, at the end of which he is to sacrifice his son Isaac on a mountain in the land of Moriah. During his journey, his thoughts return to the defining events of his life.
