A captivating retelling of the major events from the first books of the Bible. The history of Israel from Abraham to Joshua.
The film begins with the story of Abraham, which opens with a glimpse into the creation of the world and the time before the Flood. The story then continues with the events of Abraham’s life—his parting with Lot, the births of Ishmael and Isaac, the planned sacrifice of Isaac, the death of Abraham’s wife Sarah, finding a wife for Isaac, Abraham’s prophecies, his blessing, and his death.
This is followed by the story of Isaac’s sons, Jacob and Esau; Isaac’s old age; Jacob’s blessing and his flight from Esau; Jacob’s encounter with Rachel; Jacob’s deception; Jacob’s departure with his wives; the reconciliation between Jacob and Esau; and the events concerning Jacob’s sons and their betrayal of their brother Joseph.
The second part of the film begins by focusing on Joseph’s fate in Egypt, and how, despite various adversities, he eventually became one of the most important officials in Egypt at that time. This is followed by the salvation of Jacob’s tribe during hard times and the enslavement of the Hebrews in Egypt.
The Life of Moses—his time in Egypt as a young man, his escape, his conversation with God, his return to Egypt, the plagues of Egypt, the release of the Hebrews and their exodus from Egypt, the crossing of the sea, the journey through the desert, God’s giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses, the Jews’ idolatry, the creation of the Ark of the Covenant, and finally, Joshua’s assumption of leadership among the tribes of Israel.
