Sound of Freedom
Sound of Freedom is a film about the child trafficking industry, which generates $150 billion annually. Children are abducted not only for sexual abuse but also for organ trafficking. The film is a collaborative effort by several stars, including Alejandro Monteverde (director of Bella—2006), Eduardo Verástegui (star of Bella—2006), Jim Caviezel (lead actor in The Passion of the Christ), and Mel Gibson. This true story pays tribute to the work of Tim Ballard, who rescued dozens of children from modern-day slavery. The film’s release was significantly delayed because an influential liberal lobby opposed it.
A young girl named Rocío and her brother Miguel are invited to a fake casting call, where the children are abducted by traffickers. Fortunately, Special Agent Tim Ballard learns of the children’s plight by pretending to be a pedophile himself.
Tim manages to track down the car in which little Miguel is being transported and rescues him. Tim is also concerned about the fate of Miguel’s sister and decides to find out where she is.
His search leads him to Cartagena, Colombia. There, he meets Vampiro, a former cartel accountant who is now also working to rescue children from the traffickers.
Together, they launch a massive operation in which they manage to rescue 54 children. Rocío, however, is not among them.
Later, he learns from one of the arrested men that Rocío was sold into slavery to a certain leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Tim therefore sets out on a perilous journey into the Colombian jungle, which is controlled by armed militants.
