A story of courage and self-sacrifice by the Polish couple, the Żabińskis, who saved three hundred Jews from the Nazis during World War II. A film about their love for one another and their selfless love for others.

Antonina Żabińska works at the Warsaw Zoo with her husband. With the outbreak of war, the situation changes, and the Warsaw Zoo is largely in ruins. Many animals are killed, and the couple is forced to send the more valuable animals that survived the bombing to the Berlin Zoo.

The zoo is turned into a German weapons depot. Antonina and her husband, Ján, decide on a risky plan to help Warsaw’s Jews in the empty spaces of their zoo. They disguise this daring project by raising pigs for the German soldiers.

When the Warsaw Uprising breaks out, Antonina loses her husband, who is taken prisoner by the Germans. The situation escalates, and Antonina must fight not only for the lives of the people they have sheltered, but also for her own integrity.
