The film Thérèse is about the patron saint of missionaries who never went on a mission. It tells the story of a young girl who fell in love with Jesus Christ and showed the path to spirituality through acts of unconditional love, prayer, human compassion, and her “little way” in the modern world.

This inspiring true story is presented to the viewer through a simple account of the life of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.

It begins during Thérèse’s childhood, when her mother was still alive. It continues through her youth and, while touching on her aversion to school, shows how Thérèse herself had to struggle with her weaknesses and work on her inner transformation. 

Gradually, all her sisters leave for the convent. Thérèse remains at home with only her father and one sister. When Terezka feels the desire to enter the Carmelite convent at the age of fifteen, she is initially denied permission. Soon, however, her request reaches the Pope himself. 

When Terezka finally enters the convent, her faith is put to the test on more than one occasion. Her self-sacrifice and focus on God reveal a way of life based on love and humility. 

As for significant spiritual moments from Saint Thérèse’s life, many are missing from the film.
