The true story of a young man who miraculously fights for his very survival in the mountains. He struggles not only for his physical life but also for his spiritual awakening, which he achieves during several days of solitude among the frozen cliffs and forests as he reevaluates his life while pushing himself to the limits of his abilities.

Eric Lamarque heads into the mountains to spend a few days alone snowboarding. Even there, he doesn’t stop using the addictive substances that are ruining his life. On his last run, he makes a rash, reckless decision that nearly costs him his life.

Evening falls, and Eric is unable to return to civilization. The fog and cold ensure that he remains trapped in the mountains. Eric is disoriented and cannot find his way back, even over the next few days. He faces various dangers, but the worst moment is when he falls into a lake, after which his situation rapidly deteriorates.

Interwoven throughout the story are Eric’s childhood memories, which are mostly unpleasant recollections of his father’s insensitivity and the selfishness of his teammates on the hockey team he played for many years. In contrast, there are positive events, which are usually associated with his mother, who has loved him since birth and tries, even through prayer, to help Eric find a fulfilling and contented life.

On the eighth day, Eric still pins his hopes on his radio, which he carries with him as he climbs a high mountain with his last ounce of strength. It seems as though Eric’s end is near, but in reality, a new life is beginning for him—a real life, a life with God and without drugs, even though the struggle in the mountains takes its toll.
