Overcome
The film Overcome (2008) tells the story of a young boy named Colton who leads a deeply wayward life. He disrespects his parents, neglects school, causes trouble, and bullies those around him. Until one moment.
Colton is a cautionary tale of a young boy who has turned his back on God and tries to cope with his emotional instability and adolescent mood swings through rebellion. He terrorizes those around him until, after a party, he finds himself in a car being driven by his drunk friend.
After a serious car accident—in which a girl named Sarah, with whom he had previously been at odds, is also injured—his life begins to change. This is largely due to Colton’s near-death experience.
Colton regrets how foolishly he had lived and tries to gradually make amends for the things he caused in the past. Among other things, he begins attending church services and seeks reconciliation with Sarah.
The story follows Colton’s spiritual transformation from a rebel to a man seeking forgiveness and a fresh start. The film is inspired by the Apostle Paul’s conversion after his encounter with Christ.
