The film Animal Farm is an adaptation of the book by author George Orwell. It is a well-known satire of totalitarian ideologies and a warning against them. As both history and the present teach us, the book and the film have been—and remain—a largely ineffective cry for help.

A certain farm lives under the cruel rule of the despotic farmer Jones. Jones callously starves all the animals on the farm. And so the animals devise a plan for a revolution.

They succeed in overthrowing Jones. A new regime is established, which at first seems wonderful. However, things soon begin to change.

The pig Napoleon, with the help of trained dogs, seizes power. Napoleon employs various methods of demagoguery and increasingly subjugates the animals. Eventually, without the other animals realizing it, they reach a point where they are worse off than they were under Farmer Jones’s rule.
