A film about a family whose marriage is falling apart, resulting in behavioral problems in their son. A film about self-sacrifice, helpfulness, forgiveness, the power of prayer, and the search for a solid foundation that can save a marriage.
A moving film that begins with Matthew vandalizing the exterior of a church in the town where he lives. He does this as an expression of his disappointment in God, whom he had asked to save his parents’ marriage.
Thanks to this incident, Matthew meets Ernie, an elderly carpenter, who offers him a helping hand when he can no longer stand the situation at home. Matthew begins helping Ernie carve and restore wooden parts for the church. However, people from a rival company—where Matthew’s father even works—try to thwart their efforts.
At first, Matthew’s parents discourage him from pursuing this new hobby, but over time the situation changes as they see their son beginning to change for the better. “WWJD”—what would Jesus do in the situations he faces—becomes Matthew’s life motto.
Through Matthew, his parents also come to realize more and more that what they had forgotten in their own lives is to put God first in their marriage.
