Joe involves Samantha in the work he does, and Samantha, following her husband’s death, gradually rediscovers a reason to live.

As she spends time with Joe, the narrative shifts to the past—whether to the childhoods of both main characters or to significant later moments in their lives.

In the past, Joe had no qualms about living dishonestly and committing crimes. As a result, he spent several years in prison. There, he underwent a personal transformation, realized what is important in life, and discovered the weaknesses within himself that he must fight most of all. These moments ultimately led him to selflessly serve children and young people.
