Charbel: The Movie
A film about a great figure of Middle Eastern Christianity, Saint Charbel. The story is interwoven with events from Charbel’s life and several miracles that amazed the people among whom he lived. It is largely thanks to these miracles that this man of ceaseless prayer became well-known here as well.
Charbel’s father died when Charbel was still a small child, due to the cruelty of the local ruler and soldiers, who forced him to work despite his serious illness.
In his youth, Charbel decided to enter a monastery, where he began to lead a strict ascetic life. His wisdom and moderation became what amazed and inspired many.
The film also depicts Charbel’s mother, who found it very difficult to let go of her son, who was determined to devote his life to God.
Charbel is often confronted with the anti-Christian behavior of his fellow monks, whom he guides toward truly following Christ and rejecting violence and compromises with further evil.
