The film “Saint Joseph. Guardian of the Family” (Opiekun, 2023) tells the story of a marital crisis between Dominika, a violinist, and Robert, a journalist. It is a story of deep hurt and betrayal, but also of a great and difficult challenge that very few people are able to accept and respond to positively. The film is interspersed with testimonials that incorporate elements of documentary filmmaking.

Dominika and Robert face both financial and emotional problems. During this time, Dominika grows close to a wealthy businessman named Martin, in whom she sees a way out of the dreary mediocrity of her life so far and the fulfillment of her own dreams.

Dominika leaves her husband and son Jurek and begins living with Martin. Their relationship initially seems idyllic, but only up to a point.

Meanwhile, Robert is assigned the task of preparing reports on miraculous events in people’s lives linked to the intercession of Saint Joseph. This work influences his view of the world and his own life.
